  Why Choose MIA

Well Designed Curriculum
The Ontario Ministry of Education provides all schools with guidelines for the development of academic courses. MIA implements these guidelines by combining the highest qualified faculty support material.

MIA works with an experienced and eminent educational consultant whose duties are to guide our school through the Ontario government's education curriculum, and to introduce new teaching techniques to our teachers. With her help, we can qualify and better prepare our students for the 21st century.

Accountable Faculty
All teachers at our school have a Master's degree or higher qualifications, with Ontario Teaching Certificates and extensive teaching experience. They are caring and dedicated to the highest standards of education by offering deep insight into their field of expertise, therefore ensuring that our students gain the knowledge and skills needed to meet the academic demands that are required for their future careers.

Our experienced and versatile administrative staff share your excitement at experiencing the new country, and new environment, and work hard to make your transition to Canadian social, cultural and educational systems as smooth as possible.

Excellent Facilities
MIA's classrooms are equipped with computers, Internet connections and overhead projectors, which enable our experienced teachers to integrate modern techniques into their teaching methodology, and to equip students with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills for the 21st century.

Our computer lab equipped with the latest computer hardware and software, providing students with free Internet and e-mail access, making their research much easier and more convenient.

Meal plans are available and a live-in Residence Advisor is on site 24/7 to help ensure the saftey and well being of all students.

Reasonable Tuition Fees
• Overseas applicants: CAD$ 9,600.00 for one year, covering 8 courses
• Visa students (students that already hold a student visa and are within Canada): CAD $880.00 each course
• Canadian citizens, landed immigrants and permanent residents: CAD $680.00 each course

All Year Round Enrollment
MIA operates on a tri-semester system, which enables our students to register all year round with the flexible timetable. The semesters start in September, January, and April. In addition, to accommodate the special needs of certain students who wish to take additional courses, McDonald also offers the Summer School Program, which starts in the beginning of July, and ends in mid-August.

Our North York Campus offers even more flexibility with their fast track program. Semesters there start every 2 months, year round.

Small Classes
Small classes mean more personal attention from the teachers, which provides students with a better educational environment and hence more chances for success.

Our small classes afford opportunities for the respect and recognition of student achievement. We try to size our class within the range of 15-25 students, which allows more time for students to interact and communicate in the class, and to develop independent reasoning, and creative thinking skills.

High University and College Entrance Rate
Each year approximately 300 students graduate from MIA and successfully enter top Canadian and U.S. universities and colleges. 10% of our graduates receive University Entrance Scholarships between CAD $500.00 to $10,000.00. The majority of our students continue on to famous universities such as the University of Toronto, York University, McGill University, the University of Waterloo and many others.

American University Affiliation
McDonald International Academy is affiliated with the State University of New York at New Paltz (SUNY). Our graduates are ensured a placement in SUNY if they have completed six grade 12 courses, with a minimum average of 60%. The OAC credits will also be transferred to SUNY as first year credits.

In Canada, we are affiliated with the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. Both Universities offer our graduates direct admission providing that they complete six Grade 12 courses (including English Gr. 12) with a minimum average of 70%. If they achieve a minimum grade of 70% in ENG4U (English Gr. 12), there will be no need for TOEFL score requirement.
